QuarterNote

Frequently asked questions

Everything about how QuarterNote works. Still stuck? Email kitt@kumokodo.ai.

What is QuarterNote?

QuarterNote is a marketplace where students take 1:1 lessons from verified professional musicians — touring and session players — with booking, payments, scheduling, and AI practice tools in one place.

Who are the teachers?

Verified working musicians. Teachers list the artists they've played, toured, or recorded with, and those credits are reviewed before a teacher goes live — the pedigree is the whole point.

How do online lessons work?

Lessons happen in an in-app video room. You join in one click about 15 minutes before the start time — no separate app or login link. The lesson is captured so AI can write your recap.

What is an AI lesson recap?

After each online lesson, AI drafts a warm summary and a personalized practice plan for the week, which your teacher reviews and sends to you (or a parent). Nothing gets forgotten between lessons.

Is there help practicing between lessons?

Yes. The AI practice coach answers your questions grounded in your own recent recaps and goals, and progress insights show what you've improved and what to work on next.

How do payments work?

You pay securely through Stripe when you book. Creating an account is free; you pay per lesson at the teacher's rate (trials are discounted). The teacher is paid automatically and QuarterNote takes a small platform fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel 24+ hours before a lesson for a full refund. Cancel within 24 hours and you keep a makeup credit — a free lesson you can rebook with that same teacher. If a teacher cancels, you're fully refunded.

Can I take weekly lessons?

Yes. You can set up a standing weekly slot with a teacher; it holds your time each week and you pay per lesson, one click at a time.

How do teachers get paid?

Through Stripe Connect. Students pay the platform; the teacher receives their share automatically after each lesson, minus the platform fee. Teachers track earnings and payouts in a dashboard.

Can teachers add booking to their own website?

Yes. Teachers can embed a booking widget (a single iframe) or call the public Booking API on their own site — payments and the payout split still run through QuarterNote. See the Developers page.

Is QuarterNote good for kids?

Yes — many students are children, learning through an account created and managed by a parent or guardian. The parent handles booking, payments, and receives the recaps.
